12-Day Flight Instructor Course (CFI)
Course Overview:
The Flying School offers an extensive 12 day Flight Instructor course. The days are consecutive. Each day includes 4 hours of classroom instruction and 2.5 hour flight blocks (including preflight, flight, and debrief). During the class, the simulator is used to enhance teaching techniques. Included in the course, students are paired with classmates to present lessons under the supervision of one of our CFI’s.
We limit each class to 10 students per month to ensure a personalized and effective learning experience.
Preparation and Requirements:
Prior to the course start, students must complete the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI), Flight Instructor-Airplane (FIA), and develop lesson plans. While 4 hours of class are provided daily, significant self-study outside of class is essential for success.
Cost:
The initial ground school fee is $2,200, covering all classroom instruction and pre-scheduled teaching sessions. Flight and simulator times are billed at our standard rental rates, along with instructor rates. To secure a spot in one of our classes, a $750 deposit is required. The remaining $1,450 is due on the first day of class.
Registration and Cancellation Policies:
Classes start on the first Monday of each month. Upon enrollment, you will receive an email containing documents that must be reviewed, submitted, and accompanied by the $750 deposit to secure enrollment. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Your spot will not be held until the documents are submitted and the deposit is paid.
The deposit is non-refundable 60 days before the class start date. If you are unable to make your chosen date, we cannot refund the deposit, but we will happily transfer you to a later available class within the following 12 months. After 30 days prior to the start of the class, there are no refunds nor allowed class date changes. In the event your chosen date gets cancelled, we will either refund your deposit or move you to the next offered date.
Additional Information:
At this time, we cannot guarantee a check ride as we do not have an in-house DPE to provide check rides. However, we have been 85% successful in securing check rides for our CFI students within a month of their course completion date. This success assumes the student is adequately prepared and has received the necessary sign-off from their instructor.
At The Flying School, we take pride in our CFI program and maintain a fleet of well-maintained aircraft. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing the highest level of training and preparing our students thoroughly for their check ride and future as flight instructors.
Colorado offers a stunning environment for flying. If you have any additional questions or are looking to reserve your spot, we are happy to assist you!
